Chicken Pox, how long before spots arrive...?

DS is about the only one in his nursery not to have had Chicken Pox. He's had a low temp and been grouchy since Monday - I'm pretty sure he's going down with it, but does anybody know how long before spots arrive to confirm it? He's three on Saturday and I can't work out whether to cancel his party or not..

Incubation period is 10-21 days so could be a grand 3 weeks after all his mates at nursery. Sounds as though it is brewing though. I would bet spots by tomorrow. and best of luck.

sorry meant to say - the prodrome (bit before the spots) can be a week.

DS was really unsettled for 3 days before the spots appeared - thought he was teething . The first 4 appeared on the back of his neck.

I think CP is infectious for the 2 weeks before the spots appear so if you know when the last outbreak was could you work out if your DS was likely to get it

The others had it on 10th May, so that sounds about right (ie 12 days ago when they got spots, so they'd have been infections from approx 15 days ago?!). Tbh, I so hope it is, as am sick of non-specific grouchiness and just want to get on with it. Big shame about his party though...

D'oh -just spotted my original post - meant to say "high temp" rather than "low"! Pesky pox must be getting to me too...
