Bile duct stone- can it reoccur? Any GPs or nurses around?

DF became jaundiced recently, it happened overnight - okay one day and yellow the next. He lost his appetite and felt poorly but didn't complain of pain, he was just tired and ill.
Bloods were taken which led the GP to believe he had an obstruction of some kind. GP arranged a scan but DF refused saying he'd rather be left alone - he's a stubborn old goat and to be honest I think he's had enough. After a few days though the jaundice cleared on its own. This was around a week in total and now he's back to normal with no problems.
DF is happy now and is not wanting to follow this up at all with further tests - GP says he thinks it was a stone that's now passed.

So, what's the chances of this happening again? I want to be on the ball next time so I can get him admitted to hospital as he should have been this time. Do stones tend to reoccur or are the chances high of it happening again?

Yes they can. He very much needs follow up and the scan. He was lucky it passed easily without complications.

There’s a chance it will happen again as unlikely he had just one gall-stone.
