Hard painful lump on sternum

For a couple of weeks now, I’ve had a lump at the top of my chest, sort of on my breastbone to the left hand side. I’d say it’s about the size of a 50p and hard. It doesn’t move but it’s painful to touch. It’s not painful any other time but if I hug someone or there’s any kind of pressure on it, it hurts.

I’m going to try and get a doctor’s appointment this week but any ideas what it might be? I googled but the first things it came up with was breast or bone cancer. Doesn’t help that I suffer with health anxiety really. I’m guessing it’s nothing serious but just wondered if anyone had had anything similar and what it turned out to be.

Thanks in advance!

I have a sebaceous cyst in same place. I have been to gp about it a few years back when it got infected and needed antibiotics. Other than that it goes big and small although doesn't sound as big as yours.
