Red bump on edge of areola

Hi all,

About 5 weeks ago I noticed a small red lump on the edge of my areola (not the normal Montgomery things). I thought it might be a spot or bite so left it.... It doesn't hurt or itch.

Anyway, 5 weeks later it's still there. I've had my boobs checked before as they're quite naturally lumpy and all has been fine but this isn't the same kind of problem.

Everything I've read said that all breast changes should be checked but this is very close to the surface, looks like a nipple coloured bump and feels only like a grain of sand underneath so doesn't really deserve the title 'lump' and I don't want to waste anyone's time for a spot!

Has anyone had experience of anything similar?

Many thanks Smile

I'd be tempted to get it checked out, prob nothing but better be sure

I had something that sounds like this and went and had it checked. It was a blocked montgomery's tubule and needed no treatment. Eventually it came to the surface and had a white head and I squeezed it and a tiny grain of sebum came out and it went away.

Thank you for the advice 😊 I went to see the doctor who said it was strange and hadn't seen anything like it. She got a second opinion and they were both a bit stumped. I've been prescribed a topical treatment and if no improvement in a week then they'll refer it to the breast clinic.

She did say it is always worth getting these things checked.

Hope it clears up.
