was wondering how her rash is?

imaginaryfriend · 20/06/2007 20:08

Of course not hippi (sorry I called you hippo earlier ). It's nice to be thought of and I've done the same many times with people / stories on here.

I do give her some antihistamine at night actually for her asthma / hay fever anyway. I think it probably helps a bit but not totally.

Tentatively though I do think her skin may be a tiny bit more pink rather than red today ... Dare I hope?

Don't worry IF, hippo is pretty apt as I am a big girl

Will keep everything crossed that dd is indeed getting pink rather than red.

Stay strong, I hope to read a positive update soon!

imaginaryfriend · 20/06/2007 22:48

Thanks hippi.

lucykate, that's very kind of you. Dd would be delighted. I'll email you right now so you can delete your post.

imaginaryfriend · 20/06/2007 22:51

Emailed you now LK.

lucykate · 20/06/2007 23:29

have replied and mission accomplished with the deletion

imaginaryfriend · 22/06/2007 11:19

Thanks LK. Your website looks fantastic by the way!

Idreamofdaleks · 22/06/2007 11:22

Your poor dd. What an ordeal for both of you, I hope there is an improvement v soon.

imaginaryfriend · 22/06/2007 11:32

Thanks dalek. Dd had a dream about a dalek the other night actually!

At the moment she seems to have reached a plateau, not getting worse but not getting better either. 2 weeks til we see the Big Cheese Dermatologist again ...

hippipotami · 22/06/2007 13:25

Plateau could be good, if the rash has now stopped spreading, perhaps her body is getting on top of things.

I really hope you see an improvement soon.

I hope your dd's dream was not a scary one.

We made the mistake of letting dd (4 and a half) watch doctor who last year (when she was only 3 and a half, what were we thinking??) and she was terrified of the 'oods'
Even now she will have a bad dream featuring them in some way.

imaginaryfriend · 22/06/2007 16:00

hippi, dd saw that statue one called Blink a couple of weeks ago. She loved it at the time but has been quite scared about what it might mean ever since.

She's been having quite a lot of bad dreams lately.

hippipotami · 22/06/2007 16:15

Don't laugh, but the Blink one gave ME nightmares! The kids were absolutely fine, but I have been spooked out ever since. Last week I was walking the dog in the woods (quite a lonely dark place at the best of times) and for some reason I pictured in my head lots of statues hiding amongst the trees! I have never walked so fast!! (my dh thinks I am completely bonkers)

Sorry to hear your dd has been having nightmares. She has a lot on her plate at the moment.

Idreamofdaleks · 22/06/2007 17:34

Is there anything you can do to boost your dd's overall general health to help her body deal with this?

I'm just thinking general things like cutting down on processed food and additives, getting lots of exercise and relaxation, chances to de-stress. I'm so affected by your story, I have been wracking my brains as if I can solve it all if I think about it enough, but of course I can't .

Hope you both have had a good day

imaginaryfriend · 22/06/2007 21:54

hippi, if I'd seen that Blink one when I was younger it would have completely freaked me out!

Thanks daleks. We drive ourselves nuts thinking of things we could / should do too!

Her diet is very good. She's one of those miracle kids who loves vegetables and fruit. We don't tend to have any junk food around although we do like to tuck into a pizza now and then. she drinks lots of fresh fruit juice and lots of water too. I've been giving her a multi-vitamin and also some pro-biotics to try to counterract the bad effects of all those antibiotics.

I just don't know what else to do. In terms of exercise, she rides her bike to school and back every day and is very active all the time really. Although this week she's been very lethargic and listless for some reason I can't quite put my finger on. As for making her relax ... well I try. The only time she really chills out is when she's drawing. She's a fairly full-on child at home, demanding and chatty. At school, apparently, she's very reserved and quiet! Anyhow we're having long art sessions every day which she's loving.

hippipotami · 22/06/2007 22:40

Lol - there is no hope for me aged 35 being scared by Dr Who is there??

Hope you and dd enjoy a lovely weekend.

xx

Idreamofdaleks · 23/06/2007 10:21

Hi imaginary friend, you seem to be giving your dd pretty much the healthiest lifestyle in the book - it's even more unfair in that case that this should happen . My dd loves drawing too .

What about trying a homeopath? Sometimes they can achieve rapid "miracles". What are your thoughts about it?

foxinsocks · 23/06/2007 17:16

only 2 weeks to go now

glad things are, at least, not getting worse (though I know that's not much comfort)

OP posts:
imaginaryfriend · 23/06/2007 21:26

daleks, I think we're really beyond homeopathy at this point. No offence to homeopathy of course!

Yes, fox, I'm longing to see the dermatologist, to ask all the questions I thought of as soon as we'd walked out the door, etc. etc.!

mrsharrypotter · 23/06/2007 21:53

IF, I'm still thinking of you and your dd, and I hope that she finds some relief soon. 2 weeks to go.

imaginaryfriend · 23/06/2007 23:59

Thanks. Everyone's been so kind!

hippipotami · 27/06/2007 14:33

Just checking you and your dd are ok IF. I am really hoping dd is indeed getting 'pinker' (as opposed to red) and the meds are making a difference.

Thinking of you both.

imaginaryfriend · 27/06/2007 14:42

Thanks hippi! Dp and I were feeling quite positive about it yesterday as there is undoubtedly an improvement. not an earth-shattering improvement but as much as anything there has been no further deterioration which is very good news. 2 weeks til we go back to the dermatologist so everything's crossed here in SE London!

hippipotami · 27/06/2007 15:05

Yippee!!1 (punches air), I really really hope this is the start of the end of the rash!
Will keep everything crossed for you that things continue to improve!

Is dd feeling more comfortable now aswell?

imaginaryfriend · 27/06/2007 17:41

Yes she is.

I was looking through a scrapbook of her drawings this afternoon and there were a few photos of her in there before all this started and it made me cry to see her with a totally clear face. it's hard to imagine her like that again but it would be so lovely.

hippipotami · 27/06/2007 18:33

Oh IF - I really really hope that she will have a clear face again in the near future. The fact that it is not getting worse is a sign it is responding to treatment. I take it there was no phonecall from the consultant so his two suspicions have proved correct? (or is it proven?)

Keeping everything crossed for further improvement!
