Whats your best tip/product for bad nappy rash?????

one of my mindees(under 2yrs) has very very bad nappy rash lately, to the point of it bleeding.
mum was prescribed a kind or cortisol(sp) cream for it, but IMO is not help, she has sudacrem but was told to use this other instead.
it got to the point last week that i was either bathing her when she dirtied her nappy or using warm wet flannel instead of wipes (as they are perfumed, so told mum/dad i would suggest they go for non prefumed), but parents are quite young so i would like to offer some advice, but all i could think of was what ive just said!

I used bepanthem on my son when he was sore, fabulous stuff would use again and have recommended it to lots of parents when i was a minder.

I vote for metanium...but agree you only need the tiniest amount applied in a super thin layer. It truly is magic stuff!

A nice natural remedy, if you're stuck, is whick up an egg white (preferably cold) until a bit frothy apply and let dry. It acts as a barrier and soothes as well since its cold. My sis gave me that tip and it really does work!!

metanium is fab - only need a small amount though!
No nappy as much as possible.
Regular changes of nappy.
No wipes - just warm water.
And if all else fails - egg white! This was the only thing that worked when my ds nappy rash was so bad it split the skin adn was bleeding. Just whip up the egg white in a bowl with a fork then (this is the tricky bit!) smear it on his bum with your hand. You have to get it to dry and form a film before you put his nappy on so I just used to kinda wave his bum around in the air and give him 'twizzers' which he loved! Unbelievably this really works! Leave the bowl in the fridge with the remaining egg white an djust repeat everytime you change him.

Nice to know other people know about this as i have had varying reactions in the past....from raised eyebrows to outright ridicule...but it works!

It's the best thing I've ever used on nappy rash. One application and it's healed.

I always used Egg white for nappy rash it was the only thing I found to work (although I never tried anything else!!

egg white!, never heard of that either, but seems lots of people have used it.
emailed mum your suggestions but havent heard back, sopefully shes tried a few and tots ok now

Weleda calendula nappy cream is very very good.

Metanium - cant live without it!! also use cotton wipes and lukewarm water not wipes to clean their poor bums

the organic baby range available in waitrose is excellent if pricy. here
i use this at every change ang then the rescue repair one for flare ups (not that common i have to say)
