5weeks old LO has a rash....

the HV says it could be just his skin coping with airborne pollutants, or heat rash - it is on his face, neck and top of shoulders, tiny red/uncoloured bumps. Individual prickles seem to disappear fairly quickly but the overall effect is staying the same. The only thing we can think of that touches his face but not so much other areas is us! We aren't using bio detergents or anything other than plain old soap on our own hands. Any suggestions for a cream/lotion? Or do we just have to wait for his little pizza face to clear itself up...?

My ds used to have lots of rashes when new and I tried switching detergents - didn't change. In the end it just cleared up. I only ever used water to bath him and put olive oil on dry skin.

I think its normal for new babies to get all sorts of spots and rashes. My 5 month old still gets little patches now and again. Just keep an eye on it. I don't think there's much point in putting anything on it unless its irritating him. In fact if I remember correctly the MW warned he about him getting rashes and spots and not to worry on her first visit after having him.

Very normal. It's awful when your flawless newborn turns into a spotty monster. Luckily it should clear by itself in a couple of weeks.

thanks, all.

DH has been moaning "but I don't WANT a crusty baby!" - will tell him to get a grip
