Folic acid deficiency- what investigation??

So ive had folic acid deficiency for around 6months now. After doing a few tests through my GP surgery (taking meds, not taking meds, differently timed blood tests etc) theyve now decided I need absorption investigations. Its clear that when medicated im ok but im not absorbing ANY dietary folic acid and low amounts of B12. The dr rang just as i was leaving work so in a tizz ive asked a grand total of zero questions.. hes booking me in for "gastro resistany inveatigations". I have an appointment to go to the GP monday and will ask then but for this time being, has anyone experienced this and know what the investigation entiles?

Im not pregnant btw, that's not the cause for low folic acid.
