Excruciatingly painful period pains, regular periods?

I started my cycles 7 WEEKS after having my DC Hmm Took me by surprise as I'm exclusively breastfeeding.

I'm now 6 months post birth, I've had about 4/5 regular cycles since and the pain in between them is horrendous.

The periods themselves are very very light, so I can't say I've had any deep bleeds or clotting.

I cannot sit up straight at certain times, but funnily enough, the period itself is the least painful thing.

It's after and building up to it that's bad.

I've never had painful periods before, ever.

Will GP do anything for me or laugh me away? Blush

I've tried strong pain killers and they don't touch it. The pain is like contracting with my labour pains all over again, except maybe worse.

Any such changes should always be reported to the GP. I thought of endometriosis when I read your post, this is a common cause of severe period pain leading up to and sometimes during menses.

GP should be able to do something but you should be referred to a gynaecologist. You won't be laughed at or sent away. You should not be sent away with just pills either; you need to determine the cause as well as treat the symptoms.

Would also suggest you keep a daily pain/symptom diary if you do not already do this as this can give them clues.
