DS started with vomiting and ear infection almost two weeks ago- were onto the second load of anti biotic and its not shifting.

DP came down with it on Monday and has been really ill with sickness, aches and pains, and awful earache... and now Ive got chronic earache too...

It really hurts, Ive not had earache for years.. didn't know you could 'catch' earache, thought it was a bacterial infection??

Were moving on Friday too!!

also wanted to ask- any one had any experience of anti biotics not working with their toddlers?

My DS has had 6 lots of amoxicillin since november 06 (when he had pneumonia), and hes now been Rx Erythromycin to try and clear this ear infection, but its just not going.. anyone with any experience?

this is wild conjecture but I know there is a virus going round that just lasts and it definitely affects the ears. I've had it for four weeks - I haven't really had earache (only a few days) but I feel I've narrowly escaped it as my ears are blocked to buggery.

Possibly why anti-bs aren't working - it could be a virus?

hm maybe margo- you've got a point- my GP would always er on the side of caution because of his history with pneumonia etc and Rx anti biotics.

My DP and I hav earache now too (DP being quite ill aswell) - surely that is a virus?

probably

ds had v bad earache last week and I picked up his cold and got the same earache (but not as bad)

but I can see why your doctor is wanting to err on the side of caution

your poor lad!
