Period 8 days late but not pregnant. What could it be?

As per above, my period is 8 days late and I’ve taken 2 pregnancy tests (today and yesterday) - both negative

I’ve been on holiday with a female friend for 2 weeks so was away during ovulation (and DP firmly back at home).

I have been having terrible PMS for about 10 days - mood swings, skin breakouts etc. And today and yesterday I have cramps in my abdomen to suggest I have a period but it hasn’t actually arrived.

Any thoughts what this could be?

This has happened to me a couple of times-both times I just missed a period and it arrived on time the next month. Both times I panicked I was pregnant!

Really?! This has never happened before! Usually like clockwork!

Me too! Which is why I was so panicked.
I wouldn’t worry too much as a one off.
Any chance it could be menopause starting? Mine wasn’t-just random -possibly coincided with losing some (but not significant amounts of) weight.

I’m 31 so I hope not! I have started a diet in past few weeks for summer body so possibly that then....

Possibly-I always thought you had to be very skinny to stop periods but apparently if your body thinks there’s not enough food around that month it can ‘decide’ not to ovulate.

Stress? I've skipped a fair few in the past, and on hindsight it's always because of stress (family problems/ work/ health). There's no escaping it!

Any other ideas from the morning crowd?

This happened to me last month and I’m definitely not pregnant. Periods have always been clockwork and fairly heavy. I was having bad cramps as though I was on my period but there wasn’t even spotting. Spoke to my doctor and she said when you get above 30 it can sometimes just happen for no reason (missing a period) and they only start to properly investigate if it happens 2-3 times in a row. Are you on any birth control? My doctor told me to go back on the pill for a few months to regulate my hormones
