Had my Mirena Coil removed today...

Posted this on conception board, not sure really where to put it! I had my mirena coil removed this morning. DR told me it would be about 4-6 weeks for normal periods to resume. He also said if I had had intercourse in the past few days there was a possibility I could get pregnant. How soon would I know if I was?

You could do a test in two to three weeks, becuase if say, for example, you had just ovulated and conceived, then you would "normally" be "missing" your period in two to three weeks and you can do a preg test on or just before your "missed period", if you see what I mean.

FWIW, my periods returned as soon as the Mirena was out. I was spotting when it was removed, had a period four weeks later and was pregnant two weeks after that.

When I had the mirena took out to have my DS I didn't wait for my period to come back, I found out I was pregnant a month after the mirena was removed.

It was slightly different with DD, had the coil removed and it took me nearly 4 months to concieve her - although I think that was more down to the lack of BD, with already having DS!

Thanks for the replies. Not sure when I would be due to ovulate as I havent had a period since having my mirena put in. I have had some spotting today and a bit crampy tummy but am glad to have it out, it just didnt agree with me. I wouldnt mind if I was pregnant, DH mightn't be so sure but I wasn't aware last night that having sex then removing the mirena straight away could result in it! I imagine its only a slim chance anyway!

Quick question (sorry if TMI)

Had my coil out last Wed, had some staining that day. Today had some bright red blood up til lunch time, then nothing? Is this my period or just some spotting and readjusting to not having coil?

No not at all. Like having a smear test. Have felt loads better since having it out too.

It may be your body re-adjusting if it was only a small amount as I had my period about a week after having my coil removed and it was pretty much how I remember them being!

Thanks, I was thinking that too - they certainly never used to just last a few hours!!
