Oil of cloves if she can bear the taste? Put a bit on some cotton wool and dab it onto the tooth.

unicorn · 09/08/2004 16:11

Lou33.. haven't got any of that (but i do have a jar of cloves I think- can I do anything with them?)

No I don't think so. The chemist will sell it I should think.

whymummy · 09/08/2004 16:17

you can boil the cloves and when it cools down make her hold the liquid in her mouth for as long as possible then spit it out,i used to put the cloves next to the tooth but she's too young and might swallow it by accident, also bonjela,do you have any ?

unicorn · 09/08/2004 16:19

aha thanks wm.. bonjela now i am sure we have some somewhere!!!!!! must sort out that cabinet!

hi toothache ohh dear oil of cloves wont be much use really (dental nurse) when she goes to bed prop her up on a few pillows as lying flat will aggrivate it also def do not put anything warm next to face or sit in front of anything warm as will become acute and will swell esp if absess is brewing calpol and nuerofen good advice.i know it sounds bad but wake her up in night to give calpol etc dont let it wear off. hope she gets sorted tomorrow.

whymummy · 09/08/2004 20:43

any luck unicorn?how is she now?

unicorn · 09/08/2004 21:35

ahh thanks for caring wm... !
I have dosed her to her eyeballs with painkillers... got some clove oil (which she found interesting- and a bit of a distraction so thanks!) will have to see how she does tonight...
wish dentists were more like doctors- and take emergencies as emergencies - rather than fit them in when it's convenient for them.
And whilst ranting... I am seriously hoping this tooth pain is not because of a dodgy filling that Dentist did a month ago (it's the same tooth area)...time to find a new dentist I think.

OP posts:
whymummy · 09/08/2004 21:45

i hope she has a good night sleep and good luck at the dentist tomorrow

unicorn · 10/08/2004 17:08

It seems some of her filling broke off, so dentist has refilled it- but she is still complaining it hurts.
I called dentist and we have to wait until tomorrow to see if the pain goes away.
Running out of painkillers.
