Has anyone had a ganglion cyst removed? Pics!

I have this painful lump in my wrist which I'm pretty sure is just a ganglion.

It's causing a lot of pain and I can't hold a pan anymore or even unclip my bra!

Has anyone had one removed? Did the doctor do it the same day?

I had one removed about 25 years ago. Doctor tried putting a needle in to aspirate it but it just came back. He told me that the usual way to treat it was to distract the sufferer then hit it with a heavy book!

Mine seems to be sitting on a nerve and was very painful so I was finally referred for surgery. I had a general anaesthetic. The scar was not very neat unfortunately but seemed to get rid of it. Bit sore for a few days but not dreadful.

The old wives tale is you hit it with the bible.

The doctor drained mine when I mentioned during an appointment for something else.

Yes I have one in each wrist. I just massage it or get dh to do it for me. Doesnt seen to flare up much anymore.

I had one years ago. Was dealt with privately so I didn't have to wait too long. They squished it under local anaesthetic. It has never come back.

About to smack it with Mary Berry's Sunday Lunches.

Wish me luck

Had mine removed under GA about 40 years ago......this was after my gp tried to flatten it with a large heavy book! he told me 'it usually works' obviously in my case it didn't and oh boy did it hurt after he did that

I have had a fair few ganglions on wrist, hand and fingers, doctor said they tend to leave them alone and they did eventually disappear but I always get a new one someplace else! most annoying.

The old wives tale is you hit it with the bible. Not just A Bible but The Family Bible. The ones that make good doorstops. Nip into a church and ask to borrow the one on the lectern. Grin
