Acne breakout on my chin at the age of 28!! What is it?

I've never had Acne, not even in my teenage years. I've been lucky with good skin and the odd spot during periods.

Recently, my chin area is COVERED in acne, sometimes they hurt and sometimes they don't. it doesn’t go through phases and it’s there all the time. I haven’t changed anything in my diet, lifestyle or skin care except for going back on the pill (Cilest) for the first time in over 5 years following 2 kids. Could it be the pill? I thought Cilest is meant to be good for skin/spot problems??

Sounds like the cause is your pill. I'd look to change it.

Some pills work well in clearing up acne, some won't work at all and some can make it worse. This is because each pill is made up to affect varying hormones, and not all of them are effective in tackling the hormone imbalances which cause spots (insulin and IGF-1).

Take a look at this site which shows (from a poll of 2000 women) the affect they have on skin of a number of major pill brands. Cilest is not listed by that brand name on the site but falls under the label of 'NGM+EE' combination pill. curology.com/guides/skin-101/birth-control-and-acne

You could try changing your pill to see if that helps, or look to making changes in your diet and skin routine to counter the pill effects. There are lots of supplements and small changes you can make that can have an affect on acne formation. Feel free to PM if you need more details.
