Mouth feels burnt and tastes horribly bitter

Does anyone have any idea what this could be.
My tongue is sore and bumpy and the back of my mouth is painful. It feels like it has been scolded.
There is also a horrid bitter taste in my mouth.
I am early 30s female, reasonable diet.

It had been like this for about 4 days.

Could be due to something you're eating if you've changed your diet or what you drink.
Medications can affect the mouth and sense of taste.
If it doesn't clear up it might be burning mouth syndrome

Did you eat pine nuts?

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 28/04/2018 12:33

Thank you.
No pine nuts and no change I diet.
The only thing I can think of is a couple of glasses of Aldi wine that I had the night before it started but I’m sure that I’ve had that wine before.
I had looked at burning mouth syndrome but it seems to be linked to menopause and I am hopefully not there yet.

It’s horrid and is making everything taste disgusting.

Thrush?

GlitterGlue · 28/04/2018 12:40

Acid reflux?

BrownTurkey · 28/04/2018 12:47

Oral allergy syndrome? Remember, you can change, even if diet hasn’t changed. Could be a reaction to the wines.

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 28/04/2018 13:38

I wonder. It almost feels like chemical burns.
I might try an antihistamine and see if that helps at all.

Definitely not acid reflux, I get that a fair bit and it’s not like this.
Don’t think it’s thrush but will have a google.

My partner has exactly the same symptoms you have described. He got it checked at the doctors when going for something else and they said it's something called geographical tongue. They don't know what causes it and should go by itself.

TheChineseChicken · 28/04/2018 14:27

Feeling like your tongue is burnt is a sign of thrush. Is your tongue white?

Vintagegoth · 28/04/2018 14:30

Another vote for oral thrush

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 28/04/2018 14:30

No, tongue I not white at all. It doesn’t look any different to normal.

I get this sometimes and it's when my acid reflux has gone on a bender. I'm also sure low B12 gives similar symptoms.

shewolfmum · 28/04/2018 20:55

Yuck i had this...it is very stressful and has a big impact on life. Decided to try homeopathy after trying a very clean diet and cutting out various things... it worked in about 2 days!
