BV (Bacteiral Vaginosis) home remedies

I've been battling BV for about three weeks. I got a test kit with the PH testing stick. I've been through tubes of Mulit-Gyn Actigel. I didn't want to take antibiotics, as that kills off all the bacteria, not just the bad bacteria in the BV. Plus antibiotics make me feel grim.
The gel would sort of relieve the symptoms for a bit but I'd have to use a ton of the stuff and it's a messy business. And expensive!
Then I was reading up on it late into the night, as you do, and thought I'd give the garlic clove a go. One peeled clove inserted for 20 minutes before going to sleep. In the morning, no watery discharge and barely any smell. This seems to be amazing but I'm feeling cautious on day one of home remedies.
Next I washed this morning with a diluted cider vinegar solution and sat in a bowl of the solution for a while until I started to feel cold and uncomfortable ;)
Then I soaked a tampon in a new mix of vinegar and cooled boiled water and inserted that for about half an hour. I thought this would be OK rather than douching with the stuff.
I'm staying off the gel for the day to see how the discharge behaves.
I've read that once you've had BV, it will keep on bugging you and I don't want that! So I'm also going to try probiotics, orally, once I see any stonger signs of improvement in the symptoms.

On a side note I read that certain foods can set it off, as well as stress, sex with a new partner, douching, scented soaps/bubble bath and not wiping correctly. I don't really know what can have set mine off, from this list. It's a right pain.

Update, day 2
drumroll
BV symptoms have completely gone, 24 hours after starting home remedies of garlic and diluted vinegar.
I hope this helps any of you who are desperate like I was, to find something, anything, to just get some relief.
And now I won't panic if it ever comes back, I'll know I can zap the thing with a cider tampon Grin

I would take allicin max too!

day three,
Update
still clear, yay!
Also took a probiotic capsule, emptied it into a tablespoon of boiled cooled water and squirted 10 mils of mix slowly into vagina with a sterilised calpol syringe. Lay on back for 15 minutes before allowing to drain away into loo. Apologies if that's TMI, sisters, but I think we have to be specific. This is to recolonise with the good bacteria after getting rid of the awful symptoms. I've taken the capsules orally as well but wanted to get the good stuff in there quickly.
Oh yea, happy days.

Day 5
Yesterday and today, still clear of BV symptoms and I haven't used any remedies.
I really am amazed at how thoroughly and cheaply I've been able to nix this BV with vinegar and a bit of garlic.

Great rentmyhouse :) I considered tea tree oil but didn't know how much to use. I used five drops in bath water before, just for the aroma.
