Copper Coil, How long do I give it?

Have just endured 5 days of the most horrendous bleeding and a fair amount of pain. This is my 2nd period since I had it fitted, and have been advised that it might be a few more months before things settle down.

Has anyone been through similar and had normal periods? I don't want this to go on for much longer, I feel completely drained.

my periods are heavier since having my coil. although i had it put in almost 2 years ago i have only recently stopped breastfeeding so have actually only had 2 periods. i'm hoping it calms down too.

3rd one became more like normal for me - give it a couple more

Mine were hell for 6 months. I have a friend who was the same.

Brilliant after that though!

that's reassuring ipod .

I had about three blood bath ones with loads of pain then it settled down.

For me it is a brillaint answer to contraception but I understand from the coil that it is very variable from person to person - might go for a check up if next two still bad.

Thanks you lot, I was avoiding mentions of blood baths, but that accurately sums up my week DimpledThighs.

Based on your experiences, I'll give it another couple of months, I was worried something was wrong.

Many thanks, off to wash trousers
