I'm on the mini pill and I very rarely have a period. My last one was 2 years ago.

However, exactly 4 weeks ago today, I started a period. It's not desperately heavy, but heavy enough to need to change a regular tampon every 3 hours.....for 4 weeks! It's showing no signs of stopping.

Is there anything the doctor could give me to make it stop? It's driving me mad now

Please go and see your GP this is not normal and you should get checked out. I don't want to scare monger but don't let this drag on.

Yes, there's progesterone pill you can take which will stop it pretty quickly. I've had this a few times - was checked for fibroids one time, then ended up having a uterine biopsy - both times it was fine, just put down to a "hormonal blip". I now have stash of progesterone so if/when it happens again I just take them. But you do need to see your GP and get proper non-internet advice.
Be warned though - the progesterone can make you feel like you have pre-menstrual rage to scary degrees. It passes. And it does the job.

I had this -gp gave me norethisterone (I think sp!) and it stopped within 24/48 hours. Had internal scans etc once it had stopped as well as bloods but all was fine and hasn’t happened since - been about 18 months x

A friend had this, turned out to be a fibroid. I think you need to be checked out as you could possibly become anaemic too.

Galaxyseeker · 21/04/2018 21:16

Thank you everyone! I'll definitely make an appointment with my GP on Monday. I do keep feeling a little lightheaded when I stand up so I think you're right about being possibly being anaemic.

I was also given norethisterone and blood tests showed I was anaemic. Definitely have a chat with GP.

This is not actually that unusual on the mini pill. Mini pill is progesterone only, so adding more progesterone probably won't help. Go and see your GP.

It can happen. On depo I had a period for 4 months. Go to the GP.
