PAIN INBETWEEN PERIODS AND AFTER SEX

Can anyone offer advice. After having dd1 2 1/2 yrs ago my periods were great, better than before. No pain, not heavy and only 5 days ish. After dd2 11 mths ago periods have been regular but painful and I seem to have 1 week off a month if lucky with no pain then rest of time in pain. Also after having sex got pain around my bellybutton area, is this normal? May have nothing to do with it. Also how often is ok for sex? My mum keeps telling me sex is so important which makes me feel bad as my dh and I are so busy most nights it's tea, bath and bed. Sex hasn't really come into it until recently. Are we abnormal?

If you are in pain for 3 weeks out of each month then you really should go to the GP for a check.

sounds like it could be first signs of endometriosis or a fibroid or something like that. You need to see a GP. Don't be embarassed - they'll have heard/seen it all before!

mummylin2495 · 12/05/2007 22:07

i used to have this trouble and it did indeed turn out to be fibroids for me

maximummummy · 12/05/2007 22:34

yep fibroids for me too
get yourself down the doctors

when you get the pains after sex do you also bleed? i found the pain was worse if i had an orgasm which was very annoying

i also found that my periods got very heavy so much so that i had to go on iron tablets as i was just so drained and tired that i'd fall asleep on the sofa night after night

mummylin2495 · 12/05/2007 22:48

i put up with it for years then had to have hysterectomy

Thank you for all your help. Will see how I get on over next two periods and then if no better go see my GP. Husband away at mo so bit difficult to get to docs with 2 kids in tow.

Hi lovebabies

Is there any way that someone can mind your two children whilst you seek medical advice?. I would certainly not wait another two months or so.

You ought to be seen by a gynae asap.

Deep pain during sex is very suggestive of endometriosis.

I was wondering about the pain around the belly button - have you ever had any sort of abdominal surgery (including c-section). That can also be indicative of endometriosis.

In general, any symptoms that are cyclical in nature, and that get worse during menstruation may be due to endometriosis.

I would add as well that endometriosis is not picked up through blood tests or swabs; its usual way of being diagnosed is through a keyhole surgery type op called a laparoscopy.

www.endo.org.uk is a good website to look at and gives more information.

I used to have something like this. Unfortunately I had numerous tests but nothing was found.

I was advised to go onto the depo injection so my cycle would stop to see if this helped which it did, thankfully.

if you do have fibroids and not endometriosis they can be diognosed with a ultra sound scan . Fibroids are also effected by your menstral cycle ; it would be an idea to see your gp asap as the wait to see gynae can be quite long

by the way what do you mean by how often is ok for sex?
