DH getting headaches AFTER.......

sex or masturbation. Excruciating migraine type head aches a second before he actually 'comes'. He has searched online (argh) and has read about something called coital cephalagia which sounds like it but I am worried and want him to get it investigated but he isn't too keen.

This has only been happening for a week and only happens as described above.

Help

What did google say the treatment was? He really needs to see a doctor about it.

pickledpear · 12/05/2007 15:35

they say masturbation makes you go blind so dont do it is my suggestion

but i have heard in women they get an orgasm and a headache

NeedToBeAnon · 12/05/2007 15:38

It sounds exactly as described but it also says that in rare situations it can be a symptom of a brain aneurysm or tumour. But of course, DH has stuck his head in the sand about this part.

I think he has no choice but to get that checked out. Send him to GP first thing on Monday - drag him there yourself if you have to!

Hope you get it sorted.

NeedToBeAnon · 12/05/2007 15:43

Easier said than done but I will work on it. After it happened twice, I made him promise that if it happened again, he would go to the GP. It has happened again and he won't. I will nag him and try the guilty angle

Or could you go to the GP yourself and describe the symptoms - the GP maybe able to reassure you there and then, or suggest that he does need to get it checked out.

I've never heard of this happening - I'd be sending dh if it were him.

Men are hopeless at going to docs though!

NeedToBeAnon · 12/05/2007 15:51

I had never heard of it either. Google says it happens in abot 1% of the population and maybe more as many probably don't go to the doctors about it. I will try the 'think about the kids' line.

Girl with a One Track Mind ,has written about this as she suffers from it too. Or so I've been told, of course I don't read such filth myself, you understand.

NeedToBeAnon · 12/05/2007 15:56

Just looked a bit further - and the pain is exactly as described - at the back of the head where the spine joins the skull

OP posts:
NeedToBeAnon · 12/05/2007 15:58

her if anyone is interested

'As for treatment, a doctor may recommend abstaining from sexual activities and masturbation for a short period of time ranging from a few days to a few weeks.'

Maybe it's this part that's putting off your dh reporting it!?

NeedToBeAnon · 12/05/2007 16:04

lol probably

didnt have to resort to the 'think of the kids' line
the 'I am not having sex wit you until you have been to the doctors' worked a treat

Thanks everyone
WIll let you know how things go

Hey! i dont want to sound all scary (although i would rather sound scary now, and it be nothing then keep my mouth shut and hear something bad has happened!) I just read an artical in a mag about something similar, and the guy in question had a really bad headache after sex, went to hospital and had a subarachnoid haemorrhage- a blood vessel had popped in his brain and the article said this is most common in men between 35-55. Anyway with this guy it was very serious and if he hadnt gone to A and E they dont think he would have lived past another 2 weeks.
I am not saying this is what has happened to your DH, but i am just highlighting how important it is to get it checked out. Maybe you could call NHS direct? Hope i havent scared you.

noddyholder · 12/05/2007 17:24

This is quite common I think it is a blood pressure or vascular thing He needs to go to the doctor .

I've heard about this happening to people. I'd have it checked out

Haribosmum · 12/05/2007 18:41

My dh gets the same thing on and off (not for a while though)and like your dh he doesn't want to go to the doctors. Could you post and let us know what the diagnosis is if your dh doesn't mind? Then I'll have more amunition next time I'm trying to get him to go to the docs. TIA! [GRIN]

Haribosmum · 12/05/2007 18:42

NeedToBeAnon · 12/05/2007 20:23
