Can I get a copy of my MRI report?

I had an MRI done by local NHS hospital. Have been told by very cold and patronising consultant that I need new knee but as I'm too young (49 when injured but 50 now) he will buy me some time with key hole surgery to clean up my joints and trim 2 sections of torn cartilage which are stopping my knee fully straightening. I'm in pain and tired of waiting for the procedure. The pre- op assessment isn't until mid May so I know nothing will happen before then and probably not until June/July (11/12 months after I injured my knee). I am considering going to a private hospital but wondered if I am allowed to have a copy of the MRI report so the private hospital knows what exactly is wrong with my knee.

You should be able to request it via PALS. We were told we could request copies of any of DDs hospital notes or scans from them.

Yes of course- i have all my mri images on a cd. It cost me about £10. You can also request the written report. There is a department that deals with it.

Your gp will likely have recieved a copy of the written report too and can print you a copy.

I'm sorry I'm not sure about getting the mri notes, but I had similar and they kept saying they wouldn't operate until I lost weight! Always seems to be some excuse to delay, so I don't blame you for going private if you can comfortably afford it. Good luck!
