Treatment for Adenomyosis - what worked for you?

Hi. I’ve just been told I’ve got Adenomyosis after years of thinking it was a fibroid. I’m now in constant pain and periods are unbearable. Apart from this one large mass of endometrial tissue in the womb muscle, I also have a small amount of endo on one of my ovaries. The gynaecologist told me my options were the coil to release progesterone or a hysterectomy.

Has anyone had any treatment for this? I’m also wondering why I wasn’t offered removal of the endo and Adenomyosis (adenenomyectomy?) and an ablation. I’m very near menopause apparently. She only saw one follicle on my ovaries.

I had a mirena coil fitted just over 4 years ago and it has been amazing. No bleeding just a little bit of ovulation pain. I would recommend trying this.

Thanks. I’m concerned about getting one because a progesterone injection years ago gave me abnormal cervical cells.

Was it painful to insert or after / recovery?
How long before your periods stopped?
