I’ve had a back problem for years and went to a new chiropractor today who for the initial appt does X-ray and some sort of nerve conduction thing.
Now yeas ago in my arm I had a proper nerve conduction thing done in hospital and what he did today on my back seemed very different.
He had two small, hand held devices which he held at various points either side of my spine. Would hold them there for a few seconds, then move down. My spine a bit and repeat.
These things took readings of my spinal nerves which then zapped the info to his computer. He showed me a diagram of a back with my readings put in. My nerves were mainly red and purple when they should be green. One was yellow which is very bad as it means it’s basically given up. He explained it that this shows how hard my back is working just to keep sitting.....so in a healthy back all the nerves are green, but a lot of mine are working harder and are red or purple.
He says this gives him a good idea of where my problems are and how to treat. I have to go next week to hear what the full extent of my issues are and what the proposed treatment is.
He’s barely examined my back.....well not in a way which previous physios have. I haven’t even demonstrated my crazy, audible clunk to him. He ran fingers down my spine and said some stuff was shifted out of line and got me doing stuff like standing on alternate legs.
I don’t mind paying if this has a chance of working but am not used to chiropractors. Not sure if the nerve thing is quack science or medical wizardry?
