I am struggling
Fifty years old and I walk like an old woman. My bones joints and muscles ache - especially my hips and my tailbone which is so bad I can't sit down for long periods.
I have also been struggling with multiple upper and lower respiratory tract infections since last summer.

All this on top of menopause ( on HRT) high BP ( on meds) and hypothyroidism ( again on meds)

I went to see my GP with all the above symptoms worried I was making a fuss. She was wonderful and listened ( I had a cry) ... I was convinced it was all in my head and I am just lazy.

So she did a million blood tests and made me an appointment for a months time

Just had a phone call from her today to tell me my vitamin D levels are almost unrecordable.... so I have been put on

Vitamin D3 500mcg (20,000 IU) once a day for 15 days and then one once a month....

She still wants to see me next week so I will have more questions....

Anybody with Vitamin D deficiency? ( it is a family condition so I am not surprised)

Yes, I have. Only just started the supplements and really hoping they are going to work... Like you I feel achey, also totally knackered.

@bringbackfonzi it's a pain you can't describe isn't it? I have been saying my bones ache and all I got was Hmm

I have high hopes I will feel better soon - sick of shuffling like an old woman

It tends to go hand in hand with autoimmune diseases and you have hypothyroidism.
Mine was negligible and I felt beyond crap. When you improve you'll look back and really realise just how crappy you've been feeling.

To me it feels more like a muscle ache but that may not be physiologically accurate... My thyroid function is ok so I don't really know if anything caused it except a cold winter indoors.
Let's hope Sluttybutty is right and we feel a lot better soon!

Yes I felt like an 80 year old (I'm in my forties!) It took a couple of months for me to notice a difference once I started on the vitamin D. However the difference they made is unbelievable. I can move, bend and go upstairs without giving it a second thought. It feels like I have a new lease of life! Hope you start to feel better soon.

We are a family of auto immune diseases

Type 1 diabetes
Sjorgens
Lupus
RA
Thyroid

My daughters, mother, sister, aunts, grandmothers ( both sides) and my cousins ( both sides) have either one of the above or a combination of two of the above.... this is obviously the way my family rock!
