I wonder why the human body is so badly designed?

However the human race came about, why are we so unprepared for life? Our bodies aren't equipped. So many illnesses, mental health disorders, too many ways to die!

Is this serious? The human body is and incredible resilient and magnificent thing. This can't be serious? And anyway 'designed' by whom?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 10/04/2018 21:00

Are we?

I think the human body is a real miracle.
Just think about all the things your brain does, all the language and cognitive skills we take for granted.

Everything live dies, so that's not something that's only affects the human race.

leighdinglady · 10/04/2018 21:00

What a strange argument. the human body is exceptional. Think about all the illnesses and strains every single persons body survives throughout their lives. No one lives forever, but it's incredible what we can withstand

Are you ok OP? It's a strange comment so assume there's something wrong

Minnie747 · 10/04/2018 21:01

Oh and evolution. We came about through evolution.

PurpleDaisies · 10/04/2018 21:02

Are we? I don’t agree.

Where’s this coming from? Hope all’s ok.

LJ17xx · 10/04/2018 21:04

Woah, surprised by some comments. Didn't want an argument. Was just reading something about how many people have strokes. And then there's cancer, so many of my family have died from this way before their time.

The human body is a bloody miracle!

What do you mean 'badly designed'?? Confused

No1topsecret · 10/04/2018 21:06

Hmmm I agree that women are designed badly for birthing human babies As without medical care so many would die and their babies would be as they do in the less developed world.and so many women in the uk are injured in childbirth.
But this is the only thing I think as a whole is a bad design.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 10/04/2018 21:07

That's true illnesses, but just think what you body can do. It's not perfect, but then nothing is.

Do you look at a car and think "Oh, it will only get broken?"

PerfectlyDone · 10/04/2018 21:07

Do you ever think about how many people DON"T have strokes, DON"T have cancer and DON'T die before their time??

And what does 'before their time' mean anyway? Genuine question.

ArnoldBee · 10/04/2018 21:08

Ahh the human body is designed perfectly for us to hunt, forage, reproduce and die by the age of 40. Unfortunately us humans have tampered with nature and wanted things on our terms and gone against the original design.

BasilThirty · 10/04/2018 21:08

The childbirth difficulties come from our brains evolving to be so big so quickly though didn't they?
So a result of us being so brilliantly evolved in all other ways.

KittTheCar · 10/04/2018 21:08

That's not bad design it's an evolutionary pay off, isn't it?

Minnie747 · 10/04/2018 21:08

Op sorry, my response was a little aggressive. I just think the human body is truely magical, really surprised me to hear it referred to as not being equipped.

Alienspaceship · 10/04/2018 21:09

The human body is perfectly designed. We abuse them terribly by eating what we we did not evolve to eat, living mentally stressful lives etc.

PerfectlyDone · 10/04/2018 21:09

I agree that women are designed badly for birthing human babies

It is a compromise between allowing for the absurd size of a human brain (which affects the size of the head) and still allowing for a vaginal delivery that does not kill most mothers.
Evolutionarily speaking a great success.

LJ17xx · 10/04/2018 21:09

Before their time I mean they died young

Gettingboredofthisnow · 10/04/2018 21:09

Well, most of the issues you've mentioned are at least in part caused by things we do to ourselves or problems we have created.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 10/04/2018 21:10

Well we're designed to die by about 40 aren't we? Once we slow down and can't hunt as well or bear children. For millennia, very few of us would have made old bones.

LJ17xx · 10/04/2018 21:10

I agree with the childbirth too, me and my son could have died if it weren't for the c section. Very scary

We all live FAR too long.

We are designed for the human female to mate with an older/more experienced/proven provider to mate when she is in her teens/late teens. She is to be mother in her 20s, older wise woman in her 30s and pop her clogs by the time she is 40.
Not much time for heart disease, and arthritis and most cancers.
Human males die earlier due to injury and attack from animals and fellow males.

LJ17xx · 10/04/2018 21:11

Yes I suppose I never thought of the fact we used to die a lot younger

OP posts:
PerfectlyDone · 10/04/2018 21:12

Before their time I mean they died young

Yes, but what is 'young'?

100 years ago life expectance was far lower and infant mortality was huge but accepted as 'normal'.

SuburbanRhonda · 10/04/2018 21:12

“Designed”

🙄

LJ17xx · 10/04/2018 21:12

True
