dd1 wheezes around cats (allergic to them, brings on her asthma).

It can be scary, if the test does prove he has asthma, then ask if he can be also be allergy tested to try and find triggers for it.

seems like it does. it could be worth relaying on the air con more than open windows. we have to do this for dd1 as she also has hayfever, which is really bad atm.

How old is your dh. It's not unheard of to get asthmatic symptoms as an adult. Particularly when you are exposed to something new that you are allergic to, but haven't been exposed to in the past. I never really had proper asthma attacks until my mid 20's when I moved to new york. After lots of breathing difficulties I had some allergy tests and it turned out I was allergic to damp molds (not a lot of those in california) and that was probably what was triggering my asthma attacks. As I've gotten older (i'm now 41), I've found more and more things that trigger attacks. Where hayfever used to just give me itchy eyes and sneezing, it now gives me an asthma attack. I think it's a combination of being run down (2 small children!) and an accumulation of antibodies to all the things my body doesn't like.
