Can't lift my left leg!

AEJS · 03/04/2018 19:02

For the last few days I have been getting pain in my left thigh when lifting it. It doesn't hurt at all to walk on it and if I can get into a comfortable position on the sofa it doesn't hurt when sitting or lying in bed.

Today though I have had a really difficult time lifting it. Getting dressed, getting in the car and shower, our shower is over the bath, has been almost impossible. It's painful but not overly so it's just that I can't move it. It feels like I have a 10 tonne weight attached to it.

Any ideas? Do I need to see the GP? I can't take any anti inflammatories because of medication I am on for my MH problems.

Is there any redness or swelling to your calf - anything that might make you more likely to have a blood clot (family history, pill, other meds, weight, travel etc)

Any back pain and problems peeing (incontinence or otherwise) or new feeling of numbness? Can you use the leg, can you feel your toes, does it drag or too numb or weak?

If yes or any other associated symptoms - I'd try and see someone tonight just to Make sure its nothing needing urgent care (111). If not , probably try GP tomorrow. Its probably muscular or a strain but there's always things worth checking/ruling out.

This is not something to discuss over MN. There are different nerves for sensation and proprioception (the knowledge your brain has about where every part of your body is at any one time without you being able to see it). You've said that you've had pain, altered sensation and heaviness in that limb that has been persistent for days. There are some seriously important red flags just from that short OP. You need to be seen by a health professional, and anyone who makes any guess at a possible causes for your symptoms is daft. Please phone 111, tell them how your leg has been and let them advise you.

I'd be pretty worried if I couldn't move my leg for no good reason! I agree with @lougle that you need to seek advice from 111 asap.

You def need medical advice, it's not something run of the mill that people can help you with.

Medical advice, especially if you've had back pain at all. I've had cauda equina and was unable to move or feel my leg

I had a disc herniation and it felt a bit like what you describe but I agree seek medical help x
