Scarlet fever and weird face rash (pic included - not pretty!)

So I started with tonsillitis on Saturday that was gradually getting worse until yesterday when I woke up with a red sandpapery rash all over my trunk and which spread to my face. Managed to get an out of hours appointment and by the time I got to the drs, 6 hours later, the rash was slightly itchy and I'd started to get these tiny white spots on my face. The Dr said I have Scarlet Fever and prescribed penicillin. Today my face, and only my face, is covered in these white spots that itch like a bitch. I can't find any rash or description online which suggests what they are and they don't link to scarlet fever descriptions either so just wondered if any of you might have any idea what they could be ? Not sure if I should go back to the drs or whether the penicillin will be enough to fix whatever this is.

Definitely looks like scarlet fever, my DD looked very similar when she had it. The tonsilitis before is also very much a tale tale sign. The penicillin will ensure you don't develop complication, otherwise it's a case of resting and getting better.

Are you working in a school or around young children? Scarlet Fever is has definitely been on the rise again in the last 10 years or so.

@swingofthings really? Even the white spots on the face? That's interesting and good to know it can be part of it as most sites just talk about a red face.
