Thyroid issues and arthritis - how to loose weight!

Hi. I have hypothyroidism and have recently started having stiff knee and ankle joints. Up until the last week I used to jog for 10-15 minutes every morning whilst on a half hour walk with the dog. I have stopped this as it appeared to aggravate my joints more. I don’t want to stop this but I believe that my weight may be causing the problem with my joints. (I’m a size 16-18 so not small).
Does anyone have any advice on keeping fit when not able to jog (bearing in mind my only time for exercise during the day is between 5-6am in the mornings) and how do I loose weight which has always proved difficult!
I do 20 minutes of yoga in the evenings. I always find it difficult to loose weight from my butt and thighs - they are big!

Hi, I have r a toy the same problems with hypothyroidism, been on tablets for years, & arthritis. Are you sure it’s arthritis? I have it in both hips & one knee, my GP sent me for X-rays & it was diagnosed then. I’d already put weight on with the thyroid problem, it’s a real problem to shift isn’t it? And now exercise is hard which doesn’t help at all.
I’m no exercise expert, never been to a gym in my life since school but I have dogs too. I’ve started to walk them a bit more, can’t do fast so we just amble for longer. Luckily mine are a toy breed not given to sprints & a couch potato of a Skye Terrier. I go up & down stairs more, up & down twice for each trip, daft I know but nobody’s watching, plus I garden a lot, have a big jungle if a garden that takes some effort.
But I’m determined to lose some weight, since it’s crept up the pain has definitely increased. I do t have a lot of willpower but I’m going to try a low carb method as they say you get less hungry.
Not much help, sorry, just wanted to commiserate.
