7 yr old ds wetting himself - advice please

My ds is 7. He didn't seem to have any toilet issues until about 6 mths ago. He now often wets himself when laughing. I'm not sure whether there is a problem or just laziness, eg not going to the toilet when he needs it and hanging on until the last minute.

Should I be thinking of taking him to Drs? I know that I do have this problem myself - but I put it down to being female but I know that I have had these issues since I was a child. I know how embarrassing (sp?) it is and I don't want him to have to deal with it esp if it's a medical problem that can be treated.

My dd is 3.5 and often leaks a little bit but I thought it was just her age but now I'm not so sure.

TIA

Would there be other signs if there was an infection?

Yeh pain in going to the loo..

crispyduck · 09/05/2007 21:15

Oh and the need to go more often...

None of those symptoms. I did speak to the HV and she thought he should be able to control himself.

My gut feeling is to take him to Drs but I don't want to look like I'm wasting time.
