Have you ever had Lansoprazole and felt SOOO TIRED.

I've had a feeling that my oesophagus is really tight lately, so my GP referred me for tests and put me on Lansoprazole.

It's only been 5 days but I feel TERRIBLE. Really really tired, exhausted, and often light-headed and dizzy.

Have you ever had Lansoprazole and experienced this?

I'm considering just coming off it as I can't carry on like this.

Phone your GP. I’ve been on Lansoprazole for years and never had any side effects, just relief from hernia related heartburn. Are you sure your tiredness is not due to the reason you are being sent for tests? A tight oesophagus could make you feel breathless which would make you tired?

It is a rare (1 in 1000) side effect, so possibly because of the lansoprazole. Inform your GP. Have you been tested for anaemia?

Waspsarewankers · 29/03/2018 01:29

No. I've been on it for about 12 years and not had tiredness with it.
Is it in the list if side effects on the paperwork in the box?

@dirtybadger -- I've had a blood test, yes, and my Iron levels were "on the low side of normal". I can't remember my haemoglobin number, it mightve been 45?, but my ferratin is definitely 35. I have horrific periods (fibroids).

Is that anaemic level? Would it explain my tiredness?

I skipped the pill today and I already feel so much better. Not the weird dizzy, lightheaded and exhausted feeling.

I've also increased my calories, as I was on barely any due to hating eating with my weird throat. Maybe that's why the pills wiped me out.

Also, I read that PPI can stop your body absorbing vitamins, which can't be great if you're already low in stuff.

I found differences between different brands so you could ask your GP for another brand of the same thing. If your throat/oesphagus is better however, it could be due to being on the lansoprazole? It does take around 2 weeks I have found to get settled on those tablets.

Thanks for your helpful posts!

I'm still off the pills and I feel a lot better. In fact, most of my symptoms have now gone. 🙏
