Sudden early menopause - or something more sinister?

OK - anyone any idea about these symptoms? Going to see doc next week, but I'm worried now. Everything OK then missed a period (1 so far, but not pg), and started hot flushes roughly every hour, with sweats at night, a week of migraines when last period should been. Also, a lump on the back of my neck that came up the size of an egg around that time and has gone down again to the size of a pea. Never had these symptoms before, apart from sporadic migraines. I am 42. Is this a sudden early menopause (I thought it happenened gradually and later than this). Or can something else cause these symptoms, (apart from the obvious hypochondria)?

You could be peri-menopausal. This can go on for year before the actual menopause and iirc from what I've read at 42 it isn't classes as early for the peri-menopause.
