Have just been to the gym and ended up mising out 1/2 the class 'cos I was overheating and dizzy. (was a body balcnce class and the bending down bits did it)
Instructor suggested low blood pressure (which I have had beofre when I was pregnant.
Is there anything I can do to help it?
I have an appointment at Dr for Mon.

I'll watch with interest as I often suffer from dizziness when I bend down. Had you eaten properly? I know I feel more dizzy when I've rushed a meal.

MrsWho · 09/05/2007 12:17

I actually had breakfast this am as didn't have to rush out.

I am sometime anaemic too.

I used to suffer with low blood pressure and dizziness. Headaches, too. Blood tests showed that I was anaemic. I started taking iron tablets. They did the trick for me.

MrsWho · 09/05/2007 13:28

NOooo I hat blood tests (my blood doesn't come out

Mrs Who, are you drinking enough water? Sometimes dehydration can give similar symptoms???

Elasticwoman · 09/05/2007 20:47

Mrs Who, I also had low bp when pg and think it is a general trait in me. I think if I did the kind of exercise you describe, I'd be getting dizzy too, but instead I do Pilates which is controlled, slow movements. I recommend it.

tubismybub · 09/05/2007 20:48

I have low blood pressure (90 over 50 apparently) and as far as i know there isn't much they can do to treat it unless it is a symptom of something else if you see what i meaan. High blood pressure is a condition in itself but low blood pressure isn't if you catch my drift.

Katymac · 09/05/2007 20:49

I have low blood pressure

It can't be treated

I am never (so far) aneamic - but I am sensative to low blood sugar

kid · 09/05/2007 20:53

I have had low blood preasure for years. It used to cause me to pass out without much notice. My Dr advised me to eat little and often. There is no cure for it, the Dr said LBP is better than HBP as no-one has ever died from it , that didn't make me feel much better.

DeviousDaffodil · 09/05/2007 20:54

Nothing can be done about it.
Mine i worse when my blood sugars are low.

MrsWho · 09/05/2007 20:54

I have only actually been aware of it when pregnant but at other times when I have been tested it has been low.

I have been drinking a lot , I get a funny taste in my mouth when I don't drink enough so am always aware of it(also eat a lot of ice if that counts?)

Katymac- I have noticed times when I really need somthing to eat and put them down to low blood sugar.

OP posts:
Katymac · 09/05/2007 20:58

I get headaches when I don't drink enough

I agree about the funny taste

I can go without eating for ages if I drink lemonade/ribena/sweet tea - but I feel better if eat regularily

When I was PG my BP went so low they wanted to hospitalise me - it went up suddenly then

hotbot · 09/05/2007 21:00

i dont spose yuo have been tested for diabetes? I think you are rught to see your gp,, ask for blood tests urine etc
"becos youre worth it"

ThisTime · 09/05/2007 21:02

I too have low BP and often just pass out! When I was having c-section with DS I was in and out of consciousness!

Like it said earlier down the thread it can't be treated like high BP. I was told to put head between my knees.

DeviousDaffodil · 09/05/2007 21:02

I lie down wit my feet elevated!!!

Katymac · 09/05/2007 21:04

Hotbot - as a child and teenager I was tested about 7 or 8 time

But as a adult only about 4 times - last time was a few weeks month ago

I stil feel I have problems - but GP is less sure

MrsWho · 09/05/2007 21:05

Problem seemed to be that the blood was in my head (from the bending down) and didn't seem to be going elsewhere

OP posts:
DeviousDaffodil · 09/05/2007 21:07

Mine is like I have no blood in my head!!

hotbot · 09/05/2007 21:10

lordy lordy...you all need to insist of getting properly checked out, it cant be normal or safe to be plodding about like this day in day out...

MrsWho · 09/05/2007 21:15

this was the final straw
