Gross picture sorry- is this a corn or a verrucca?

I've had it for months and always just thought it was a callous or something. It's recently seemed to grow really quickly and today has been painful to walk on.

It looks like a verruca to me, but it sticks up and out and is hard like a corn, but I've never had a corn so I don't really know.

I'm abroad and finding a podiatrist that has good English is difficult, so wanted opinions on whether it's a home remedy job or not!

And also I'm sorry for the picture of my gross feet. Envy

These are listed as 18/01 but can't both be, because it i almost healed on one and definitely not on the other!
You can see how far up Ds's foot we took the duct tape (to cut off air supply I think). Don't be shy about putting plenty of tape on!
We tried the freezing stuff but he said it really hurt

Good god that's horrendous. Thank you!

When it's white is that just dead skin? Was it soft and mushy like when you leave a plaster on too long or was it dry and flaky?

Verucca! I had one that looked like that, nothing worked, ended up getting some industrial stuff prescribed that killed it and then the chiropodist had to cut it out, had 3cm root! That hurt... hobbled around all summer in sandals with a bandaged foot till the hole healed.
So, the upshot is - go get that checked out asap...

The crater will heal up...

Sparklepunk · 25/03/2018 20:00

Podiatrist here verruca.....

BarbieBrightSide · 25/03/2018 20:10

The skin was dead, but soft and mushy. Ds has just said he doesn't remember the craters being painful, but they do look horrific! but they are from 2014, so he might have forgotten

brownelephant · 25/03/2018 20:18

yes to verruca
file it a little, put on a corn plaster (the cushioned ring type) fill with verruca gel.
repeat every day.
takes a few days

BarbieBrightSide · 25/03/2018 20:18

Actually, looking at those pics from the 18/01 I think they are from two different feet, so the dates might be correct after all and that was the speed of healing of the one on the side edge of his foot. I know we were shocked at how quick they went once they'd started to go.

You might find this an interesting read - I found it when we were struggling with ds's verruca

Thanks all for your help, experienced dab hands and professionals!

It looks even more like a verruca this evening, I'm not sure why I ever considered a corn Hmm however I've soaked it and gave it a gentle file, but it's started bleeding a bit. I didn't even file it roughly!

I didn't think verrucas bled properly?

Ouch, that does look sore.

Hopefully it'll start to go soon.. Get it covered up and cushioned and see how you go.
