Really bad Headaches the last few days - side effect of ADs or stress?

Hiya
I have had a few really bad headaches the last few days, really unusual for me and the only thing I can pin it on is a side effect to citalopram ? I have been on them about 4 months now though. I have noticed when I get stressed, thats when they come - can stress alone cause them? The more stressed I get, the worse it is until I can barely see with the pain. How can I prevent them/make them go away?
Thanks x

stress can cause headaches like these, particularly if you clench your jaws or grind your teeth when you're stressed. You may be doing this subconciously. My dentist told me I grind my teeth and that could be causing headaches, so now I make a concious effort to relax my jaws and the headaches have reduced in frequency.
HTH.

I wouldn't imagine that it's a side effect of the AD after 4 months. defo could be stress or tension headache. Are the AD's helping maybe you need to look at the dose and discuss it with your doctor if your still not feeling 100%

I don't grind my teeth... maybe clench my jaw abit? Been on and off ADs for a few years now, never had side effects before. I have one now, thinking about the state of the house

Yes, getting great sleep actually - tons of nightmares and bad dreams though, but I "sleep through" which is good for me (I used to wake alot and toss and turn). I find it easier to get to sleep, still not great - last night was an hour or so, but that used to be every night.

I know it's a long shot, but are you drinking enough water? I found when I was taking them I got really thirsty, and dehydration headaches don't seem to go with painkillers - for me anyway.
Just an idea.........

drink quite abit, but will try drinking more - it feels like that sort of headache, if that makes sense.
