Should I make a doctors appointment in the morning?

I very rarely get sick. Any time I feel a cold come on, I tackle it a.s.a.p with garlic, hot lemon drinks, nurofen. If I don't do this, it usually develops into a sinus infection where I end up suffering for months with a fullness feeling behind my forhead and behind my ears. I often lost my hearing in the past.

Anyways its been long time since I had a full blown cold followed by a sinus infection.

Last week, I felt a cold come on me. I started taking the garlic. Unfortunately, I had no lemons. Then, the beast from the east came. I went to work as usual on Wednesday morning, walking. I was wearing clothes, jacket, scarf, cap, gloves, but I felt the cold go right through me. Into my bones and into my chest.

Going to bed on Wednesday night, I felt rubbish. Waking up on Thursday morning, I was worse. Work was cancelled for me, thank goodness. I was able to get up and do some jobs around the house but I felt like rubbish. This was a cold, definitely, progressing onto something else. My throat was very, very, very sore. My chest and back was sore every time I breathed.

I was worse on Friday. I was hardly able to move. I was so sore and my body had aches and pains. I was going in and out from sleep. I was floored. Similar on Saturday.

I'm trying to fight whatever this is with nurofen, paracetamol, sudafed, plenty of fluids.

Today (Sunday)
I'm doing a lot better. I was able to get up and I had the energy to put on a laundry wash. I even ordered a takeaway. I'm still not 100% though.

My mother and boyfriend too, recommended the doctor for me but I'm not too sure about the doctor myself. I'm in Ireland, so doctors are not free so I would have to pay, for one. I feel, today Sunday, I am slightly better but not 100%. I know my doctor too. She is apprehensive handing out antibiotics until one is absolutely suffering. Generally, I think she mentioned before something about 14 days in relation to sinus. So, I would have to be battle this for 14 days. I'm not willing to go to the doctor and lie.

What do you think?
Should I make an appointment at the doctors in the morning

Sounds like you are on the mend to me. I wouldn't go to the gp unless you go downhill again.

Thanks for your reply. It does feel like I'm getting better but slowly. The pain in my chest is gone. I still have other symptoms like snifflie nose, headache, tiredness.

I'll see how I sleep overnight.

Up to me, I would wait it out to see if I could fight this on my own. Others are badgering on at me to go to the doctor.

Defo see the doc. Have you had a good look down your throat with a torch?

If you’re an otherwise fit and healthy adult then your should be able to get over it by yourself. It sounds like you’re over the worst of it. If you weren’t improving, had persistent pain/shortness of breath etc then I’d get checked out, otherwise, I’d just wait for your immune system to do it’s thing. Feel better soon!

You seem to have a bad cold which is starting to improve. Your doctor won’t give you antibiotics for that and you’ll be taking your germs into a nice busy waiting room. Please don’t. Stay in bed or on the sofa, lots of drinks and paracetamol. Ice lollies are great for the throat or honey off a spoon. Give it a couple of days and don’t expect too much too soon.

I've a had plenty of colds before. I usually stop them in their tracks and been a long time since I had one last. I don't remember colds flooring me this bad though.

Yesterday, I thought I was on the mend. Waking this morning, I decided to lay off the nurofen to see how I get on because Friday and Saturday I was taking nurofen but more than what the directions on the box said.

So I decided, no morning nurofen dose to see how I get on. I didn't get very far into the morning. I started sneezing over and over and over again (which is unusual for me). That hurt my throat and chest. Thankfully last, I gave today off. I'm gone back to bed now for a rest and seems to help.

I haven't a clue what to do. I'm up and down.

Don’t go to the doctor. I’ve had that dose since last Tuesday and dd has it too. My chest is in bits as are my sinuses but it’ll pass. I’m on the way through the snow to collect my son from school, just have to keep going.
