Fever, headache, nausea: did you child have all that and turn out fine?

Did your child have a bug like this and recover okay without medical attention? How long did it take?

DS (7) had it for 3 days, now. Already went thru checklist last night with NHS Direct about meniningitis, so probably not that.

This is most ill DS has ever been. Fever and chills, tending to throw up what little he does try to eat, occasional stiff neck, headaches, sensitive to noise and light...

I keep reading about horrible things like Weil's disease, shingles, gastric flu.... just wish I knew what to do!

Hi there. Just to let you know that our ds (4) had the same sort of thing in February which lasted for about 4 days. He had a raging fever, then chills, couldn´t keep anything down, slept A LOT and then came out of it OK without medical attention. He didn´t have the stiff neck but he had headaches and didn´t like bright light. I´m sure he´ll be fine but if you´re not sure about it take him straight to the hospital and insist that they take a thorough look at him. Best wishes, thinking of you.

Thanks for the reply. Caved in and took him to a doctor this afternoon... tonsillitis! Well, 95% sure that's the primary problem. Symptoms fit.
