Let me start by saying I'm now a wimp by any means. I have been chronically ill for many years and when it comes to pain threshold ie. painful procedures, daily life etc, mine is very high. I can deal with a lot of pain.

However, when it comes to anything that makes me feel claustrophobic or like I can't breathe, I panic. MRI's are hell for me. Well, this week I have to have an endoscopy and I'm freaking out. I'll have sedation as the transnasal endoscopy was a no go (narrow nasal passages and lots of panic) but I'm still beyond stressed about it and I don't know how to get through it. Although the staff were nice enough last time, it was all very "bish, bash, bosh" with no element of patience for folk like me so I'm worried about dealing with people like that again.

Any tips would be hugely appreciated.

@MrsEricBana over and done with and back home with a cuppa Smile

All the staff were absolutely lovely. I decided on the numbing spray and IV sedation. I found the spray for the throat much less unpleasant than having it nasally. A bit of gagging, some coughing and all over and done with. A lovely nurse pet my head haha but that's what I needed and the Dr was really gentle and patient.

Really, thank you for everyone's help and comments bar yours @expatinscotland which made me have an awful panic attack last night.

They found a hiatius hernia and 2 ulcers so I'm back in 8 weeks for another one after some medication and I'm nowhere near worried now.

Oh I'm pleased you were ok - it's not nice so well done! Also good if they found something they can get on and treat. Phew!
