When to visit gp for missed period

I’m currently 4 days late from what is usually a reliable 28 day cycle. I’ve taken a test and it’s negative and I’ve no other symptoms of pregnancy that I’ve noticed, so assume I’m not. When should I visit the gp? I’ve seen conflicting information on google, some say a week, others 2 others 3 months... with my first many years ago I didn’t find out until I was 9 weeks as I didn’t realise I had already missed one so don’t think I had any symptoms then either, but as we are trying to conceive this time I’m paying more attention to my dates.

Wait a couple more days and re-test yourself. It sometimes takes a while for the hormone to build up/show up in your wee.

I work at a GP surgery and we would tell you to buy a home testing kit, we don't offer routine pregnancy tests, not sure if this is just us though. The reason being the ones doctors use are exactly the same as any other. Your GP can order a HCG blood test but would probably want to wait and do another urine test a little later first unless there is a specific reason you can't wait.

Why would you visit the GP? Surely if you have a positive test you would book in with the local midwife and if not you might just have missed a cycle.

It’s more should I visit the gp if I’ve missed one and not pregnant? I havnt had a positive but never missed one either (with the exception of when I was actually pregnant) I’ll wait until I should be due next one and visit then. Thanks all

Are you at an age where you may be at the start of peri menopause? I'm mid forties and have gone from fairly regular periods to irregular ones. Also had 3 months of no period a few years ago when I was having a really stressful time, apparently it's normal to miss period due to stress. I haven't been to the gp about it on either occasion but i rarely go to the gp for anything so may not be a good measure for that.

After about three missed periods unkess other worrying symptoms

Loads of things can mess with your cycles. I really wouldn't go to the GP over it.

Mission g a period is not a reason to visit the gp unless there are other symptoms you are concerned about

I don’t think it would occur to me to visit the gp because of a late/missed period. Not unless, as others have suggested, there are other concerns.
