Hi there,

I have to start having B12 injections. I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences of having the same? How long might it take for symptoms to go, how long might I have to have the injections for?

I also have to start taking Vitamin D supplements. Many thanks.

Leilaniii, with b12 deficiency, in many cases, it's caused by cells in the stomach being damaged so unable to absorb b12. That's why tablets aren't the best solution.

Littlebear sorry, for symptoms- I was a lot better after the initial 2 weeks loading doses. Bit knackered again now buy I have other health issues which could be causing that.

I went to the doctor's initially because I'm absolutely knackered all the time and I'm always cold even when the heating is on full whack They must have also tested your thyroid with these symptoms right?! B12 deficiency and thyroid issues go hand in hand and the top two symptoms of under-active thyroid are feeling cold and exhausted.

I've been getting the injections for about 5 years now. Started with 6 (I think) every couple of days and been on a 3 month cycle ever since.

I call them my go faster injections! Love them, they really have changed my life.

I get them in the top of my arm and it's different arm each time. It nips at the time but the pain is gone quickly and the benefit well worth it.

Woodlice thank you for telling me about your experience! I'm hoping I'll be okay after they've done this course of injections, but who knows.... I didn't know about it being to do with cells in your stomach, thank you for that info!

MyRelationship I believe they tested for my thyroid, the nurse who took my blood said they were testing quite a few things. I don't have any history of thyroid problems, but the symptoms are very similar. I might bring it up with the nurse who does my injections.

I've just started on the Vitamin D and am already feeling a bit perkier, so hoping these injections get me sorted out properly! I hate being such a killjoy, and I know I often come across as being really moody when in fact I'm just really knackered.

Mine was 19 last month. Gp just gave be these tablets for 6 weeks. Sent with other things so no chance to ask if that’s it or what. From what I’ve read you cant have VIt D test after injections or high course of meds for 4months? Is that right? Or might give a false high? Don’t want waste appointment going if I just need 2 tablets for 7 weeks
