Anyone else waiting on smear results for longer than 2 weeks?

What it says in the title basically. I went for my smear 2 weeks ago on Tuesday and still haven't had the results back. I know the nurse said 2-3 weeks but last time they were back way before 2 weeks. Although I wasn't sure whether they came back sooner last time as my result was borderline with no hpv. I'm a bit of worrier when it comes to this sort of stuff as I've had thyroid issue in the past so my anxiety levels with health aren't great! Just hoping no news is good news.

The only time my results have been back within 2 weeks was when I was referred on to the hospital after abnormal cells showed up, usually I wait anything from 3-6 weeks for the results. Try not to worry (easier said than done I know) Flowers

Yes my last one in November took 5 weeks to come back

In my experience it comes back quickly if it's abnormal, might take longer if normal.

blueberry71 · 15/02/2018 18:04

Thanks I'll try to not to worry too much Smile

Mine came back with suspicious cells but as I don't have the HPV virus no further treatment.

11 days for a normal result over Xmas. I was very surprised.

Hi - I had a smear test last week and the nurse said they were 'double checking' each test atm so delays in sending standard letters, but anything abnormal and they would call direct to let you know to avoid any delay. So I think no news is good news!

Sunflowersandsnow · 17/02/2018 08:38

9 week delay here

blueberry71 · 17/02/2018 09:26

Thanks guys. Must be a big backlog at the moment! Still haven't heard anything so hoping no news is good news like bobinks says!

Ok so now I've had a letter through inviting me for a routine Pap smear. I'm seriously confused as to what is going on! Wondering whether the doctors have even sent my sample!

I had a letter from my GP reminding me my smear was overdue but I'd had one at the FP clinic. There was a delay between the 2 different agencies. Where did you have yours done

blueberry71 · 02/03/2018 10:17

Rang the doctors yesterday. They confirmed that my results were normal and there must have been a crossover. Thanks!
