Winter 2017/18 UK or London specific virus

I'm keen to hear from anyone who has had a nasty cold this winter, starting with classic cold-type headache, sore throat, blocked nose etc but then became a more chronic problem.
I was visiting London (from the Southern Hemisphere) over the New Year period and got a really nasty cold. Worst of it was about a week with extremely sore throat.
It's now a month later and I still have a terrible cough, ongoing sinus problems and just generally feeling rubbish. I've had steroids (2 courses) an inhaler, and antibiotics. The cough has been quite debilitating at times (has fluctuated with medications but comes back) and this week it appears that I have done some damage to my intercostal muscles and coughing is very very painful.
Cough is dry, not very productive but I feel like there is a lot of crap deep in my lungs that won't come up.
Anyone else had this delightful bug? Am keen to know if any treatment worked, if it is common this winter and how long til you got over it.

Yep I have had this since he beggining of January.
I've had anti biotics for a chest infection which seemed to clear up my chest for a while. But now i feel like it's all in my sinus. I am extreamly fatigued, full of flem in my nose and chest. I can't seem to get rid of it at all.
Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks for the responses!

Had to go back to dr today as pain in my rib/side was getting worse.

Turns out it's probably pneumonia Confused

So that explains that...
