Ds2 hurt his leg playing football

Last Sunday, ds2 (17) injured his leg during a football match. He said he was starting to feel tired and was tackled and then leg gave way. He doesn't think it was the tackle as his leg was beginning to feel slightly crampy. He couldn't put any weight on it. Most of the pain was in his calf so we figured he'd pulled a muscle. Couldn't really move leg without a lot of pain. Leg slightly swollen.

He hobbled around school for a couple of days - refused to take the crutches we have. He was practically hopping just putting tips of his toes down. He thought it was getting better until yesterday...

He's stayed home today. He can barely move his leg without pain in his calf. Leg feels cold and still looks slightly swollen. He can't stretch his leg out (been like that the whole time) and can put no weight on it. GP now shut.

Do you think he's just overused it and needs to rest? I don't understand why he gets so much pain moving his leg even when he's lying down. No pain at the front of his leg.

Any advice?

Minor injuries unit?

pigsinmud · 02/02/2018 15:26

We've not had good experiences with minor injuries unit. Told dh he had sprained his ankle and sent him away....6 weeks later we discovered it was broken!

I think we might have to tomorrow though. I can't drive and dh is not home until late today.
