Hello
Just after a kind word and reassurance basically please. Been feeling dreadful with this horrible cold/flu type thing that's been going around and not feeling like my usual self at all. Apart from that I've noticed I've been feeling tired and drained of energy for a long time but never really thought much of it.
Anyway, yesterday morning I noticed a painful swelling in my left armpit area but lower down towards breast area. Agony to lift arm high and if I press on it it really hurts and is tender. Also noticed a lump under right breast which is also painful. Given that I feel very fluey i thought maybe the lymph glands were something to do with it.
Went to gp and she's examined me and referred me to breast clinic. I said should be I worried because in actual fact I'm petrified (I am 36 with young DC) and she said no please don't worry.
I've also been suffering with an achy upper back and occasional pain down left arm and numbness in shoulder and hand on left side too for about 8 weeks but now worrying incase it's related and I've missed something!!!!
I'm quite large breasted (sorry for detail)
Just don't know what to think and am anxious to get appointment asap for clinic. Am just terrified to be honest

It was pretty cold but I knew I had to go quite quickly so was quite warm. Did it in 33 mins. Roll on next Sat! Blush

Catherine I used to work in a hospital clinic and someone did that every single day. Honestly, don't worry about it.

ImmortalityMyDarlings · 12/02/2018 09:49

Booked myself an appointment with GP. What happens at the appointment?

MsHarry · 12/02/2018 12:42

They will examine you , ask you questions about you, your history, how long it's been there etc and they MUST refer you to the breast clinic.

PhyllisWig · 12/02/2018 12:49

In mine I had a bit of a chat re symptoms and history. I had a trainee gp which was great as he clearly was running through his best practice training!

Then top off and exam. Looked at them first then palpated. This hurt only on the lumpy bit. Then all repeated by his supervisor (who is our senior practice dr so I got a good going over).

Then chat about sore lumps are good, probably cyst but all lumps are referred.

They took the fact it was different for me seriously which was important for me.

CatherineCawood · 14/02/2018 18:49

3 days to go for me.

PhyllisWig · 14/02/2018 19:45

Any update sweetheart?

helpmeimnewtothis · 14/02/2018 20:18

Yes mine is an issue with my pectoral muscle. Thanks for thinking of me

PhyllisWig · 15/02/2018 15:29

So my update is good too. No lump but milk ducts are producing milk and it's building up causing sore spots.

Consultant said down to hormone imbalance caused by a combo being over 40 and stress.

MsHarry · 15/02/2018 16:19

Brilliant Phyllis , wouldn't it be great if we could just get an answer straight away. The waiting is the worst thing.

User5trillion · 17/02/2018 07:37

So pleased to see good updates. Fingers crossed for anyone stilling waiting

MsHarry · 17/02/2018 09:40

Thinking of you Catherine.

CatherineCawood · 17/02/2018 11:08

Hello thanks harry went to my appt (right day this time!). Dr happy all ok couldn't feel anything but sending me for mammogram just to double check. Also asked if I should be seen more regularly due to family history. He agreed, said I am moderate as opposed to high or low risk so should have started annual mamogramms from age of 40. I seemed to have slipped through The system. The nurse practitioner will call me to get me in the system. Big PHEW.

Thanks for everyone for your support xxx

MsHarry · 17/02/2018 12:27

Oh that's great Catherine and sounds like you saw a good Dr to follow up with imaging anyway. I'm 47 and have never been included in annual mammograms despite history.Hmm I have mentioned it to GP but he didn't seem to think I was high risk as relatives were 70/80ish at diagnosis.
