Anyone got experience of haemorragic (sp?) ovarian cysts?

Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster... hoping for some advice /experience from others as I don’t know anyone who has suffered in real life.

I have been having bad pain for nine days now on the right side of my abdomen, sometimes accompanied by back and thigh pain. I’ve no appetite and feel generally bloated. Fast heart rate. Basically feeling totally pants.

I was admitted to hospital after a few days and after ruling out appendicitis... and a vaginal ultrasound showed a small 3.5cm cyst - which they believe to be haemorragic or a possible endometrioma. I don’t have any other symptoms of endometriosis, so the docs have gone with a diagnosis of a haemorragic cyst. My understanding is that it should resolve itself so I just need to manage the pain for now. I have plenty of dihydrocodeine to try and sort that.

I have had a few sore things in the past but this is blooming painful and doesn’t seem to be getting any better! I have done some frantic dr googling but it’s not much help. Painkillers help but certainly don’t ‘kill’ the pain. The doctors have said that if I’m still in this much pain in a week I should come back and see them.

I guess what I’d be keen to know is:

  • has anyone else had a blooming painful haemorragic cyst?
  • if so, any tips for managing the pain?
  • has anyone had one which didn’t resolve? If so, did it get bigger or just stay the same and equally painful?
  • if it didn’t resolve, what was done to help?

Thank you in advance! Xx
