Sore throat remedies - pregnant

Help! I have been struck down with the most horrible sore throat and cough. I am pregnant in my first trimester so don't really want to take any medicines just in case, anyone have any home remedies they swear by?

Keep having coughing fits which make me sick!

Phone your GP in case you need seeing. I remember being in the same position and needed antibiotics for a chest infection. GP said it was better for the baby than the amount of coughing I was doing.
