No nausea or vomiting, no cough or cold, mild ear ache but an on/off headache for now 10 days. I woke up with it Friday before last and other than a few hours a day it's not there, the rest of the time it is. It doesn't wake me from sleep but is there when I wake iykwim.

I blamed long running pmt but I came on yesterday and it's not pissed off so can't be that.

Any wise words?

Go to the doctor.

jimijack · 28/01/2018 18:11

Why on earth would you not seek medical attention from your gp for this?
Last week maybe?

newnameneeded29 · 28/01/2018 18:36

Crippling health anxiety. Doctors always say everything I go with is anxiwty.

Previously I've seen a neurologist because of daily headaches. He took me off the pill and they stopped.

Ahh I see, sorry that is shit for you. But you know, it could be something as simple as an ear infection, a quick look should rule it out.

Do you have someone that could go with you?

WildCherryBlossom · 28/01/2018 19:19

Years ago I went to the dentist having had a crippling headache for 17 days. It was sinusitis. It wasn't manifesting in the cheek bones as you might expect, but as a headache.

ChristmasTablecloth · 28/01/2018 19:22

It could well be a tension headache brought about by your anxiety. Do you hold your shoulders up or hunch them and your head very rigid?

newnameneeded29 · 28/01/2018 19:55

I though sinuses but surely that'd mean I'd have a bad cold too? No snots at all.
I know I should see someone but seriously, the GPs eye roll when they see me. Everything I've been with in the past three years they just fob me off with anxiety until I went back once still in agony to be given antibiotics for tonsillitis. Anxiety causes bacterial infections. Who knew? 😡 I now don't bother because I feel so inadequate.

Are you taking paracetamol? Isn't there something called rebound headaches?

ladystarkers · 28/01/2018 19:56

Try peppermint oil on your temples

Itscurtainsforyou · 28/01/2018 19:59

Give decongestants a go - I had a headache that painkillers couldn't shift for a week, couple of these and it was gone. Can't hurt to try it. Otherwise GP.

I had a month long headache a couple of years back. Scared the life out of me. Don’t know what caused it or what made it go but I am a very anxious person and have a tendency to clench my muscles, I also have TMJ disorder which always gets worse during my most anxious times. I found that Forehead stuff really good and I found a few good tension releasing exercises on YouTube really good. Do you get any relief from pain killers?

newnameneeded29 · 29/01/2018 09:35

What isn't helping is health anxiety itself.

Headache - anxiety about headache - focus on headache - headache gets worse - anxiety and round and round. I'm trying to distract myself off it but, I know this sounds weird, but then I think "how's my head?" "Have I got a headache?" And the focus is back.

I have also got this on off ear ache in my right ear.

Maybe you should pop to the GP. They may be able to give you something. My mum suffers from anxiety too and has complained of headaches for as long as I can remember, she has been taking propranolol for a few months and hasn’t mentioned a headache since!

newnameneeded29 · 29/01/2018 11:48

Been to GP. I have an ear infection so been given antibiotics.
