I've done something really stupid.

After years of giving my liver a run for its money, I had to had a blood test for other things.

Nurse: Would you like a Liver Function Test, too? It says no LFT on my screen?
ME: No, thanks

Came back on Wednesday, and they bloody well did do a LFT.

ME: Hi, I'm just ringing for the results of my blood test.

Nurse: xxx
xxx
xxx
xxx
xxx
xxx
and LFT xxx

All normal

And what did I do? Celebrate with some wine, last night and now. Though not alone

Am so excited about that result I'm making up for it.

Erm, nope, don't get it. Now if the result had been borderline and you had celebrated the fact that it wasn't 'fail', that would have been really stupid.

LittleEgg · 28/04/2007 16:22

I'd have done the same. Agree with PC, would be foolish if it had been borderline, or bad, but if result is ok then BRING ON THE WINE.

PC, so, what are you saying? I feel hopeless 'cos of that, cross with them for doing a blood test for something I asked them not to do. And cross with myself because I know I was bordering on alcoholism. But thankfully not now.

Can completely identify with you, I asked my gp to refer me to a dermatologist because of my horrible flaky scalp and he said he would but wanted to run some tests first which included a LFT. I nearly shoite myself as I have been known to sink a few in the past, but thankfully all tests were normal and like you celebrated with a tipple or two!!!

lulumama · 28/04/2007 18:35

if you are worried about your liver though, is it not better to know that it is ok? or not? as the case may be

PrettyCandles · 28/04/2007 19:15

I thought you were being light-hearted about what had happened.

CountessDracula · 28/04/2007 19:25

I hate to rain on your parade but LFTs can appear normal until your liver gets to about 20% function so it does not mean it is not damaged
