Allergy testing

DS2 has excema, and hay fever, but is desparate for a cat. Any advice as to where/how to go about testing him, to see if he is allergic to cats please?

Although am I right in saying that if he proves not allergic now, he could be next year. I'm thinking that we ought to wait, but on the other hand he will be devestated, and I do want him to have the experience of animals around us, and he hasn't shown any problems when we have visited friends with cats, so maybe we're alright??
